The American Sign Language and Interpreting Program offers multiple options for students who wish to learn American Sign Language (ASL) and/or enter a profession that works with persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. The program prepares students with the academic and communication skills that will help them be successful in a variety of professions and careers. This degree is a transfer degree that prepares students for further education leading to a career in which they will work with clients who are deaf and hard of hearing. Students will be able to complete all of the Texas core curriculum as well as take basic ASL and Deaf Culture courses at Del Mar and can continue with advanced language study at Del Mar either while completing their Associate’s degree or while working on their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees.
