Welcome
to the Division of Business, Professional and Technology Education
The
Division is a regional leader in the development and delivery of courses
leading to professional certifications, certificates or associate degrees. Our
philosophy is that if the Coastal Bend is to compete in a global economy, we
must provide the market with a highly skilled workforce with the necessary post-secondary
credentials and skills.
We
strive to meet your needs with courses that are convenient, relevant,
realistic, and professionally designed and delivered. Courses are offered
during the day, night, weekends, on-line, and at off-site locations. It is our
intent to create a learning atmosphere that stimulates creativity, productivity
and learning. We maintain strong
ties with business, industry, government agencies, and four-year colleges and
universities to ensure our professional knowledge is up-to-date and our courses
are relevant and reflect the “real world”.
Our
instructors provide the learning opportunities which help students to update
their skills in career or occupational fields. These instructors teach from both their
academic preparation as well as their extensive professional and workforce experience.
Most continue as practitioners in their disciplines whether it is accountancy,
business consulting, business technology, computer information systems, law
enforcement, nursing, occupational safety, etc.
If
you are seeking to gain new job skills to enter the work force, change careers,
or to transfer to a four-year institution, you will be well equipped after
studying at Del Mar College. Many students will start their course work at Del
Mar because of its high quality instruction, lab facilities and more affordable
tuition and fees. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, my door is
always open.
