• Board Elections Information

    Election packets are available after 7:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, in the office of Dr. Lee Sloan, Vice President of Administration and Finance, Heldenfels Administration Building, Room 131, Del Mar College East Campus.

    Candidates for Regent must be a registered voter residing within the College District. In the case of a single-member district vacancy, the candidate must reside in that district. Map of Districts 


    Attendance Requirements:

    • Monthly meetings every second Tuesday, usually 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Frequent meetings on fourth Tuesday of the month, times TBA
    • Additional meetings as necessary to hear public input, approve annual budget and address special topics
    • Additional committee and task force meetings as assigned
    • Invited to regular and special events, such as Commencement Ceremonies 


    The Del Mar College Board of Regents exists as a modified single-member district board with five Regents elected from specific geographic districts within the taxing district, and four Regents elected at large.

    As elected officials, Del Mar College Regents embrace the mission, core values and guiding principles of the College. 

    Regents also carry specific fiduciary (financial), legal and contractual responsibilities. They are required to understand and be subject to certain laws, state statutes, federal regulations and other requirements including those pertaining to

    • Conflicts of interest
    • Texas Ethics Commission standards
    • Texas Election Law regulations
    • Nepotism statutes 
    • Financial disclosure requirements
    • Texas Open Meetings Act requirements
    • Campaign finance reporting requirements
    • Del Mar College Board of Regents Statement of Ethics
    • State-mandated orientation and training 

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Establish and review College mission and goals
    • Appoint and evaluate the College President
    • Formulate policies and delegate the administration of those policies to the College President
    • Ensure adequate financial resources to support institutional goals
    • Enhance the public image of the College
