IntranetWare Administration Guide
Installing Additional Licenses
When you purchase software for any IntranetWareTM for Small Business server, a five-user license is included with the server license. You are prompted for the license diskette containing these licenses during server install (see IntranetWare for Small Business Installation Guide for information).
This initial license allows five user connections to the server. You can set up as many as 25 user accounts, but only five users can be logged in to the server at the same time. Because printers, fax machines, and other hardware sometimes require a connection and use connections that would otherwise be available for users, IntranetWare for Small Business compensates for this by allowing up to three extra connections on each server.
When you install the server, a License Servers Group object and a Small Business License object representing the user licenses are automatically added to the Directory view in NovellŽ Easy Administration Tool (NEAT) as shown in Figure B-1.
Figure Appendix-B-1.

The General tab in the Properties view indicates how many user licenses are installed and how many are in use (the extra connections are not displayed in NEAT). The Users tab indicates which users are currently using a server connection.
If you need additional licenses for user connections, you can purchase them from your Novell Authorized Reseller SM various packs. Purchase these additive packs as you need them. See "Installing Licenses" for information.
Installing Licenses
You can install license packs with the NEAT utility. Each license pack allows you to license the preferred number of connections to the network, such as a printer, fax machine, workstation, and software such as NetWareŽ Loadable ModuleTM (NLMTM programs), etc. For example, if you purchased a 10-user license pack, 10 users can be logged in to the network simultaneously. The server and printer attached to the server (if one exists) are not counted as a connection; only pieces of hardware connected to the server through a network cable are considered connections.
You can install more than one license pack if preferred. For example, if you need 20 new connections, you could purchase two 10-connection license packs.
To install licenses, do the following.
Procedure
Log in to the network as ADMIN.
Launch the NEAT utility.
From the Directory view, click the product name object as shown.

Insert the IntranetWare for Small Business license diskette for each license pack you received into the disk drive.
From the General tab, click Add License Certificate.
At the Install a New License Certificate dialog box, click the folder icon to browse the diskette for the correct file.

In the File name column, click the server.cls file.
If you need to install more than one license pack, install them one at a time. For example, if you have 20 connections, you can install the two 10-connection license packs.
(Optional) In the Property view, check the Read only box if you do not want other users to add license packs to the server.
Click OK.
At the Install a New License Certificate dialog box, verify that the pathname is correct. Click OK.
Check the product name object to ensure that the certificate was installed and appears in the Directory view.
The updated number of licenses is added to the total number of licenses installed and appears in the General tab.
Deleting Licenses
To delete an existing connection license pack, do the following.
Procedure
Log in to the network as ADMIN.
Launch the NEAT utility.
From the Directory view, double-click the product name to view the license packs.
Select the license to delete.
From the Edit pull-down menu, select Delete selected item, or highlight your selection and press the <Delete > key.
Click Yes to confirm your action.
If you need to install applications that come with their own license packs, see " Managing NetWare Licensing Services" in Supervising the Network (NetWare 4.11 online documentation) for complete licensing information.
