IntranetWare Administration Guide
Index - About IntranetWare for Small Business
Welcome
Welcome to IntranetWareTM for Small Business. This product is based on NovellŽ's core product, IntranetWare. Small Business includes many of the features of the core product plus several tools designed specifically for Small Business networks.
This introduction acquaints you with some of the advantages networking offers and introduces sources you can refer to for information about your network.
Through your purchase, you have opened up many possibilities for making your business more successful. Here are some of them.
- Network users can share directories and files stored on the server thereby freeing up space on workstation hard drives.
- Network users, groups, or departments can share the same printer.
- Mission-critical information can be stored on the server and be backed up and archived more easily than if it is stored on individual hard drives.
- Users can log in to the server from home or the field through modems attached to the server or dial out to bulletin boards or Internet service providers.
Getting Information
Several sources are available to assist you in learning about your network. The primary sources of information are explained next.

Chapter 7, "Setting Up Modem and Internet Access with NetWare Connect," provides information on how to install and configure NetWare ConnectTM and how to set up workstations and laptop computers to take advantage of NetWare Connect Services.
Chapter 8, "Understanding Network Security," discusses ways you and your users can protect data, the servers, and the Directory tree from viruses and intruders.
Appendix A, "Troubleshooting," lists networking hardware problems and provides solutions.
Appendix B, "Installing Additional Licenses," provides instructions for loading additional Small Business license packs to your server as your company grows and you need more user connections to the network.
