    Graduates should qualify for employment as web designers, graphic artists/designers, multimedia specialists, web developers, web content specialists, media specialists, information specialists, digital media specialists, animation specialists, interface designers, and many new jobs yet to be defined in this expanding field.

    With a degree in digital media, students can seek employment in a variety of industries, including graphic and web design, broadcasting or audio and video production. Employment outlook and salaries vary. Graphic and web designers made median salaries of $42,400, as of May 2008, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (www.bls.gov). Salaries for broadcast and audio/video technicians ranged between $32,900- $38,050. Salaries for sound and video editors in the film industry were reported at $50,560 annually. All of these occupations can expect job growth during the decade from 2008-2018.

    Graphic designers are expected to face keen competition for available positions. Many talented individuals are attracted to careers as graphic designers. Individuals with Web site design and animation experience will have the best opportunities.

    Graphic designers with a broad liberal arts education and experience in marketing and business management will be best suited for positions developing communication strategies.
