Early College and High School Programs Earn college credits before you earn your high school diploma! Del Mar College provides eligible high school students the opportunity to earn college-level credits while concurrently working toward a high school diploma. Students have access to the College’s facilities and services, including campus libraries, computer labs, academic and career planning services and more. And, depending on the program, you can take college-level courses at your own school, on one of Del Mar College’s campuses or online to work toward the education you need for the future you want. Dual Credit/ Early College Programs Del Mar College’s Dual Credit and Early Admissions programs are designed for high school students who have demonstrated the ability to accept academic challenges and responsibility. You can earn at least 12 college credit hours by the time you earn your high school diploma, and those credits are applicable toward career certifications and associate’s degrees and even a bachelor's degree. Collegiate High School The Collegiate High School on the College’s East Campus is a collaborative partnership between the Corpus Christi Independent School District and the College to provide high school- and college-level studies to selected CCISD at-risk low-income students, English language learners and first generation college students attending grades 9 through 12. Students have the opportunity to complete an associate’s degree or two years of transferable college-level credits toward a bachelor’s degree within four years at no cost to them or their families. Corpus Christi Prefreshmen Engineering Program A local site of the Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program, the Corpus Christi Prefreshman Engineering Program (CCPREP) is offered through our Mathematics Department each summer. The program provides an educational enrichment opportunity for high ability middle and high school students interested in pursuing science-based careers and emphasizes study and research work in mathematics, computer science and engineering. You can even earn one college credit on your high school transcript for each summer program component you successfully complete. High School Tech-Prep Programs If you’d like to earn up to 16 semester hours of college credit in a technical area before high school graduation, the Tech-Prep program may fill your needs. Del Mar College belongs to the Coastal Bend Tech-Prep Consortium and cooperates with area school districts to offer high-demand courses that prepare you for the workforce. Six-day Summer Geospatial Technology Camp for High School Students Del Mar College serves as home to the National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence. As a participant during their Six-day Summer Geospatial Technology Camp, you’ll learn the latest in GIS (geographic information systems) technology, including GPS (global positioning systems), map-making and digital maps. But this isn’t an ordinary learning experience with boring lectures and exams. It’s way cooler with hands-on experiences using technology to complete real projects introduced by GIS faculty and industry professionals.
