”Blue and Silver Spectacular” Award Honorees To Be Recognized During Oct. 28 Event

Now on its second year, Del Mar College Vikings Alumni Association continues recognizing individuals’ stellar support for the College, its students and the community. Formerly known as the Wall of Honor, the association has selected another six “Blue and Silver Spectacular” Award recipients and will formerly recognize those individuals on Oct. 28. 
 
The following six people––representing alumni, faculty, staff and friends––will mark the second group to receive the Blue and Silver Spectacular Award: Distinguished Staff, Gerard Muñoz, Media Production Manager with the DMC College Relations Office; Distinguished Faculty, Dr. John Robert Hatherill, Associate Professor of Biology in the Department of Natural Sciences; Distinguished Friend, Paulette Kluge, Board Member of the Del Mar College Foundation; Young Alumni, Jennifer Robles Chancellor, winner of the Grand Prize of $10,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Science and Energy Research Challenge; Distinguished Alumni, Nelda Martinez, Mayor of Corpus Christi; and Outstanding Alumni, Rosie Gonzalez Collin, Public Affairs and Community Relations Coordinator with CITGO Petroleum. 
 
“For our second event, the Del Mar College Vikings Alumni Association is thrilled to recognize these outstanding individuals who have given so generously of their time, talent and treasure for the benefit of the College, our students and our community,” says Amy Towery, Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Services. “We’re so proud of their commitment to Del Mar College and congratulate them and their families on this outstanding achievement.”
 
Nominated by their peers and selected by the Alumni Association Awards Committee during a blind review process, honorees will take center stage during the Blue and Silver Spectacular Dinner and Awards Ceremony scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina (707 N. Shoreline Blvd.).

All proceeds from the Blue and Silver Spectacular Dinner and Awards Ceremony will benefit the Del Mar College Vikings Alumni Association and student scholarships.
