Calling all anglers … there’s still plenty of time to register for the “Stringers for Scholarships” fishing tournament scheduled July 25-26 at Marker 37 (13317 South Padre Island Drive). Presented by LNV Inc.––a local engineering, architecture and contracting company––and the Del Mar College Foundation, the tournament will help raise funds for student scholarships.

Registration runs through Wednesday, July 23. To access tournament rules, an entry form in PDF format and other information, visit www.delmar.edu/alumni

The two-day event opens with a Captain’s Party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at Marker 37 with free food, soda and beer, music and a sneak peek at raffle items. At least one team member must attend this event to pick up packets with tournament rules, goodie bags and other items.

Fishing runs from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. Angler weigh-in is between 1 and 3 p.m.

Individual awards for first, second and third place will be given for the following categories: heaviest single speckled trout, heaviest single slot redfish and heaviest combined trout (1) and redfish (1) with gift cards for $250, $100 and $50 for each place in all three categories. A single team award for $400 will be given for the heaviest stringer not to exceed five trout and two redfish.
