Article by: Rosa Linda Reynoso

Graduation is not only an exciting time for students but also for their families and friends. And, for individuals completing their certificates and associates degrees at Del Mar College this semester, graduation represents a major milestone not to be missed.

Tomorrow night, Aug. 17, the College will award to about 260 prospective August graduates approximately 350 certificates and associates degrees combined. During the ceremony, they’ll also hear from commencement speaker Ken Treviño, president and chief executive officer of Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend.

To ensure parents, grandparents, spouses, children and best friends have the opportunity to see the College’s ceremony with graduates walking across the stage in Richardson Performance Hall, Del Mar College will broadcast the event live on Channel 19 on both Time Warner Cable and Grande Cable beginning at 7 p.m.

Del Mar College will also broadcast the ceremony live on the Web beginning 15 minutes before the 7 p.m. ceremony starts. Individuals can view the event by going to www.delmar.edu/webcasts.aspx

For individuals who miss the live airings, the College will rebroadcast the 2012 Summer Commencement event on Channel 19 as follows:

* Wednesday, August 22 and 29 and September 5 at 8 p.m.

* Thursday, August 23 and 30 and September 6 at 10 p.m.
