• Admissions Requirements

    Deadline for application is March 1st  - Application 

    In addition to the general admission requirements of the College and the Health Sciences programs, the Bureau of Radiologic Health and Safety requires applicants to be within three months of being 18 years of age or older.

    • all official college transcripts
    • have a minimum 2.0 GPA
    • completion or current enrollment of all prerequisites. Any or all of the general education courses listed in the curriculum may be taken prior to admission into the Radiologic Technology program. Completion of the general education courses enhances a student’s selection to the program.
    • BIOL 2401 must have been taken within 5 years from the semester applying for admission.
    •  HPRS 1106 and 1204 must have been taken within 2 years from the semester applying for admission.
    The student must receive written acceptance into the program and obtain a physical exam prior to first day of class.Radiologic Technology Application Form

    All background checks will be conducted as a condition of full acceptance into the Del Mar College programs and all clinical courses. (see student handbook for more information

    Immunization Requirements - These requirements apply to all students enrolled in health-related programs in Texas schools, which will involve direct patient contact in program-affiliated medical care facilities. This includes Radiologic Technology Majors.  (see program application for more information)

    All students can apply to the Radiologic Technology Program. A selection committee will review all applications and select the maximum number of students that can be supported by the limitations of the clinical settings, currently twenty-five. The selection will be based on points earned for the Grade Point Average (GPA), for the number of basic and prerequisite courses completed, and each letter grade for those courses. The twenty-five students with the highest point values achieved by the most courses completed within the curriculum and the highest point values for letter grades will be invited into the program.

    3.5 - 4.0 = 5 points A = 4 points
    3.0 - 3.49 = 4 points B = 3 points
    2.5 - 2.99 = 3 points C = 2 points
    2.0 - 2.49 = 2 points D = 0 points

    Required Courses:
    Biol 2401 Human Anatomy & Physiology I
    Engl 1301 Freshman Reading & Composition I
    Math 1314 Mathematic (College Algegra or better)
    POFI 1301 or ITSC 1309 Information Processing Concepts and Applications
    SPCH 1315 Fundamentals of Public Speaking or SPCH 1318 Interpersonal Communication
    3 semester hour course in Humanities or Visual or Performing Arts (Elective)
    3 semester hour course in Social Behavioral Science (Elective)

    Important Notices:
    BIOL 2401 must have been taken within 5 years from the semester applying for admission.
    Ex. Applicants for 2009, must have taken BIOL 2401 in spring semester of 2004 or later.

    HPRS 1106 & 1204 must have been taken within 2 years from the semester applying for admission.
    Ex. Applicants for 2009, must have taken HPRS 1106 & 1204 in the spring semester of 2007 or later.

    Applicants with multiple transcripts will have their GPA's averaged, when calculating GPA points.

    ALL STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SPEAK TO A RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY ACAEMDIC ADVISOR AT LEAST ONE SEMESTER PRIOR TO APPLYING TO THE PROGRAM!!
