  • WHAT IS THE TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE ASSESSMENT 2.0 (TSIA2)?

The TSIA2 is a state mandate that requires testing to measure college-level readiness in reading, mathematics, and writing. Your test scores will not impact your admission to DMC, but you will be required to meet with an Advisor and enroll in a mandatory developmental education program each semester if your scores do not meet certain requirements.
  • WHY IS THE TSI IMPORTANT?

This test will determine which classes you will be required to take during your first and subsequent semesters at Del Mar College. Your scores will determine if you will be advised into mandatory developmental courses before beginning college level courses in math, reading, and writing.

It is very important that you try your best in order to be placed accurately.

    INTERPRETING TSI TEST SCORES

  • CAN I BE EXEMPT FROM TAKING THE TSI?

  • WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING TESTING?

The entire TSIA2 exam is administered on the computer. The TSIA2 exam is a computer adaptive exam, which means test questions are based on your response to the previous question. Questions will either increase or decrease in difficulty depending on how you respond. Because the exam is computer adaptive, once you answer a test question, you may not go back to change an answer.  You may also be given an additional diagnostic exam in a particular subject to provide more detailed placement information.

A valid photo ID, such as an unexpired driver's license, student ID or passport is required to test.

The test is untimed, but you should leave enough time to finish all sections of the exam. Each section can take up to two hours.
