The Called Meeting of the Board of Regents of the Del Mar College District opened in the Regents Committee Room, Heldenfels Administration Building, Del Mar College East Campus, at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2000, with the following present:

From the Board:
Mrs. Chris Adler, Rev. Willie Davila, Mr. Ralph Diaz, Mrs. Olga Gonzales, Mr. Jacob Munoz, Mrs. Dorothy Spann, Mr. William A. Whittle (arrived at 5:15 p.m.), and Mrs. Beverly Winters.

From the College:

Dr. Terry L. Dicianna, President; Ms. Vickie Natale, Dean of Administrative Services, Ms. Claudia Jackson, Assistant to the President for Community Relations; and Ms. Sandra Pair, Secretary to the President.

From the Attorney's Office:

Mr. Stephen Hilmy.

Others:

Mr. Charles Corsentino III, Foghorn staff; Mrs. Cathy Corsentino, interested citizen; Ms. Samantha Floyd, Student Government Association; and members of the news media.

Mr. Ralph Diaz, president of the Board, presided and declared a quorum was present.

No one signed to address the Board under Public Comments.

At 5:01 p.m., Mr. Diaz announced that the Board was going into closed session in accordance with Section 551.074, Government Code, for the purpose of conducting deliberations and interviews related to candidates for appointment to fill the District 4 vacancy on the Board of Regents.

At 9:17 p.m., the Board returned to open session.

Rev. Davila moved that Raul Michael Saenz be appointed as Regent on the Board of Regents of Del Mar College District, to fill the District 4 position vacated by Regent Mary Helen Dunnam, effective upon and contingent upon taking the Oath of Office at the regular meeting of the Board of Regents on February 8, 2000. After a second by Mrs. Olga Gonzales, the motion passed unanimously.

As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
