Computer Keyboarding
POFT 1010. A 36-hour course designed to improve your computer skills by becoming proficient and accurate on the keyboard. Correct finger positions and ways to increase speed and accuracy will be covered. An excellent course to take either before or while taking PC Basics/Windows XP. Textbook may be required.
PC BASICS/Windows
Prerequisite: Computer Keyboarding.
ITSC 1006. This course is the prerequisite to all microcomputer courses. Learn to become familiar with computer terminology, major hardware components, the software selection process, and buying a computer. Also, learn the basic and intermediate concepts of Windows. Practice using the desktop features such as My Computer, Recycling Bin, Start Menu, and Taskbar. Learn how to copy, move, delete, and rename files and folders with My Computer and Windows Explorer. Data diskette is provided. Textbook required.
MS Word 2003
Prerequisites: Computer Keyboarding and Windows
POFI 1024. A 36-hour course that focuses on the beginning and intermediate functions of MS Word. Topics include creating, editing, and printing documents, navigating a document, selecting text, changing document margins, and formatting paragraphs using indents and tabs. Also, students will learn how to utilize mail merge, create charts, create table of contents and many more functions. Textbook required.
MS EXCEL 2003
Prerequisites: Computer Keyboarding and Windows
ITSW 1022. This course introduces students to beginning and intermediate functions needed to produce workbooks using text, values, and formulas. This program will allow you to create, develop, and edit electronic spreadsheets; to graph spreadsheet data; and to perform database operations with spreadsheet entries. Textbook required.
MS Access 2003
Prerequisites: Computer Keyboarding and Windows
ITSW 1058. This course orientates students to beginning and intermediate functions. Learn how to create an object oriented database and use query by example to obtain rapid data sorts and reporting. Form wizards, table wizards, and report wizards help get you up to speed quickly by creating formatted and customized forms, tables, and reports. Textbook required.
MS PowerPoint 2003
Prerequisites: Computer Keyboarding and Windows
ITSW 1037. This course will provide students with instruction on using PowerPoint to create dazzling slide presentations integrating multimedia slides, charts, outlines, graphs, clip art, hypertext links, and special effects. Textbook required.
MS Publisher 2003
Learn how Microsoft's comprehensive, yet easy-to-use, desktop publishing package can help you create and publish a wide variety of stunning documents. This hands on, project oriented course will give you valuable experience in designing, developing, and publishing newsletters, Web sites, and brochures. Textbook required.
Basic Internet
ITNW 1007. Learning to surf the net will get you worldwide information in a matter of seconds. Students will learn basic internet terminology, search techniques, and email.
AutoCad 2007
DFTG 1009. An introduction to computer aided drafting. Emphasis is placed on setup, creating and modifying geometry, storing and retrieving predefined shapes, placing, rotating, and scaling objects, adding text and dimensions, using layers, coordinate systems, and plot/print to scale. Textbook required.
AutoDesk Inventor II
Prerequisite: AutoCad use experience.
DFTG 1005. Learn Inventor II commands, options and techniques to create 3-D mechanical models of real world products.
Create rendered 3-D parts and assemblies to generate 2-D dimensional orthographic or isometric drawings. Bring CD or 128MB USB flash
drive. Textbook required.
Quickbooks Pro 2007 - Computerized Accounting
Prerequisites: PC Basics/Windows XP, general accounting background
ACNT 1054. This Quickbooks Pro 2007 course provides 36 hours of instruction and is great for small
business owners and individuals who desire to perform their own bookkeeping. Quickbooks Pro 2007 speeds
you through invoicing, bill paying, and inventory. Allows individuals to automatically create financial
statements such as cash flow reports, income statements, and balance sheets based on previously inputted
information. Textbook required.
Web Page Development
IMED 1002. This comprehensive course will provide students with the necessary skills to construct and upload fully functional web pages that advertise, sell, inform and entertain millions of users on the World Wide Web. Learn how to incorporate graphics, text hyperlinks, and use basic HTML and Java scripting for developing a web page.
WEB BASED/ONLINE COURSES
Learn at your own pace by taking a web based/online computer course. Online courses start on the second
Wednesday of every month. Once registered, students have 24/7 access to their course from any location
that has Internet access. Typically, students have six weeks to complete their online courses. Extensions
can be granted upon an instructor's approval. Visit us online at www.ed2go.com/delmar to view
course times, dates, descriptions, syllabi, and course instructor biographies.
Registration instructions are as follows:
- Register and pay your tuition at Del Mar College's Center for Economic Development either in
person, by phone, or by fax.
- Internet access, email, and the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator Web browser
are required to take an online course.
- Determine what type of online course you are taking:
In order to complete your registration (if you have not already done so), you will need to
go into your class through the classroom link and create a user name and password. Using your web
browser, go to
www.ed2go.com/delmar and click on the word "courses". Find the title of your course by either
typing the title into the search box, or by clicking on the links available and finding it by subject. Once
you have clicked on your class, look for an "Enroll Now" button. Click on this. On the next page
it should have "Sign Up For A Course" across the top and a timeline with a number 1 showing. Select
the date you would like to start and click continue. If you have already created an account for on line
classes, enter your e-mail address and your password at this point. If you have not previously created
an account, click on "click here" beside "Don't Have an Account?" Then follow the instructions on
that page. Click "Continue" and this will take you to another page to enter some additional
information. Once you have completed this page, click "update". You should now be on step 3.
Click on "Already Paid". This will take you to step 4. After you print the page for your
records, click where the instructions tell you to for completion of your orientation. Then you may go
back into the classroom and access your lessons, providing the class has already started.

- Students have three weeks from the end of class to complete the final exam. Students successfully
completing their class will be issued a certificate of proficiency via PC download.
