Communication Skills for Non-English Speakers I (NEW)
COMG 1006. This course teaches beginning English vocabulary, pronunciation, and language structures for improving job skills. Topics covered include: work environment, work time, equipment and machines, and customers. Textbook may be required.

Communication Skills for Non-English Speakers II (NEW)
COMG 1006. This course teaches beginning English vocabulary, pronunciation, and language structures for improving job skills. Topics covered include: supplies and resources, work relationships, health and safety, and dealing with money. Textbook may be required.

Beginning Spanish Online
FRNL 1001. A 24-hour course that teaches basic language skills and oral proficiency. Vocabulary, conversation, culture, customs, and a variety of other topics are included. Students enrolling in this online Spanish course should contact Vicky Andrews at vandrews@delmar.edu or call (361) 698-1096 or 1-800-652-3357 (select option "O" (operator) and ask for ext. 1096) for course and online orientation information. Textbook required-Textbook, Audio Tapes & Verb Cards can be purchased at the Multiservice Center, Room 125 (located at 3013 Ayers across from the Del Mar College East Campus).  

Beginning Spanish
FRNL 1001. Learn practical Spanish in this course designed for persons with little or no knowledge of the language. Explore basic language pronunciation, rules and sentence patterns to acquire speaking, listening, reading, and writing language skills. This course will employ a variety of activities in order to provide a general introduction to the Spanish language and its culture. Students are encouraged to take this course before proceeding to the intermediate course. Textbook may be required.

Intermediate Spanish - Part I
FRNL 1091. Learn Spanish in this course designed for persons with some previous knowledge of the language. Refine communication skills and acquire an increased ability to communicate effectively and accurately in all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This course will employ variety of activities and provide a more in-depth study of the Spanish language and culture. Students are encouraged to take this course upon completing the Beginner's course. Textbook may be required.

Conversational Spanish
FRNL 1091. This course is designed to provide language skills needed to survive in situations that require the use of Spanish. The focus is to increase vocabulary and develop methods to communicate in everyday life and practical situations. Students should have some knowledge of the language, however, there will be no undue emphasis on grammar so that communication is not hindered by fear of perfect grammatical accuracy.

Intermediate Spanish - Part II
FRNL 1091. This course is designed for those students who wish to gain increased control of the language in order to communicate effectively. The course offers opportunities to clarify language ambiguities and engage in more complicated tasks such as the use of special expressions and grammatical concepts, requests, commands, suggestions, advice, wishes, comparisons, complaints and apologies. Prerequisites for this course are the Beginner and Intermediate courses or equivalent prior knowledge of the Spanish language.
