Personal Enrichment Course Descriptions

Ballroom Dancing
The course will cover the waltz, swing, cha-cha, and students will also be briefly introduced to the samba. Dance shoes required.

Creative Writing
Learn to write crisp, witty, insightful and inspiring fiction. Bring something you are currently working on or begin a short story, play, poem, tv script, novel - whatever you feel passionate about. Get those creative juices flowing exploring the writings of Tennessee Williams and Edgar Allan Poe.

Golf, Beginning/Intermediate
15 hours of golf fundamentals: the grip, stances, footwork, hand action, etc. with both the iron and wood clubs. Drills used to establish the golf movements so that students will have some knowledge of what the golf swing consists of and why these movements are made. Materials fee: $6, payable in class. Classes held at Gabe Lozano Golf Center.

Swim To Stay Fit
Lap swimming with a goal of 50 miles. Help with strokes if requested.

Water Exercise - Beginning
This course incorporates basic water exercise movements in an aerobic rhythmic workout performed in three to four feet of water and is designed to build strength, flexibility, and aerobic endurance. The low impact workout is appropriate for non-swimmers, pregnant women, and all ages and fitness levels, and is excellent for stress management, weight control, and cross training.

English Pronunciation - "Please Understand Me"
Course will focus on English vowel and consonant sounds and how they differ from their Spanish counterparts. Techniques for listening and speaking English. All levels.

Spanish Through Song - All Levels
Learn or improve your Spanish using well-known traditional Latin American songs such as Guantanemera, Besame Mucho, Cielito Lindo, Serenata Huasteca and many more, as the study guide for improving vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, syntax, intonation, while gaining insight into the cultural world of Latin America.

Stone Sculpting
This class will introduce you to the world of stone sculpting. Using authentic stone you will learn the basic sculpting techniques of large mass removal and fine detail work, plus polishing your fininshed project. Supplies included in course fee.
