Public Safety
Students interested in a career in public safety are encouraged to enroll in this four week program and actively participate in learning about EMS, FIRE, OSHT and CRIMINAL JUSTICE. The program will culminate with students collectively responding to a mock emergency situation.
Training will be provided in the following areas:
EMS – first aid, history of EMS, CPR, functions of establishing airway
FIRE – smoke house, fire behavior, rappelling, SCBA’s – Self Contained Breathing Apparatus
OSHT – hazardous material, fire extinguisher, confined space, industrial hygiene
CRIMINAL JUSTICE – arrest procedures, vehicle stops, finger printing, CSI-Crime Scene Investigation
- Program is open to students enrolling in 8th through the 12th grade.
- Prospective students must be physically fit and not be claustrophobic to be able to participate in planned field activities (rappelling, smoke house, confined space)
- All sessions will meet Monday through Thursday from 1pm – 5pm at the West Campus Public Safety Complex.
- Enrollment will be limited to only 80 students per session
