YOUTH AQUATICS PROGRAM - 37th Annual Youth Aquatics Program – 2010
Plans for a program of instructional swimming for elementary (must be 5 years of age by August 1, 2009) and middle school age youth are as follows:
*No exceptions will be made regarding minimum age requirement.
- Elementary & middle school students are eligible to participate in this program of instructional swimming. Students must be 5 years of age by August 1, 2009. BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD MUST BE PRESENTED, AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. Students may register for only one section per session, but may register for multiple sessions.
- It is recommended that students enrolling be at least 48 inches in height. They should also have permission of parent or guardian and be in good health. Students will be assigned to an instructor (approximately 6 students per instructor) according to skill level: beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, advanced swimmer and basic water safety. Classes will be co-educational and parents may select the most convenient time and session.
- All sessions will meet Monday thru Thursday.
- Tuition fee of $35 per child, for eight thirty minute sessions must be paid at the time of registration.
- Registration begins Monday May 3, 2010. Register in person at the Center for Economic Development, 3209 South Staples Street (near Kostoryz/Staples intersection, across from Ray High School), phone number 698-1328. NO MAIL-IN OR PHONE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Friday 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Youth Aquatics Information
- Welcome to the Del Mar College Youth Aquatics Program. It is the aim of the supervisor and the instructors that the participants in this program will achieve as much as possible in acquiring safety and recreational skills for enjoyment in aquatic activities.
- All classes will be held at the Del Mar College Aquatic Center at the scheduled time. Students should come to first class meeting prepared to get into the water.
- Parents may observe classes from the balcony or patio area provided instruction is not disrupted. PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK OR PICNIC TABLES IN POOL AREA.
- Small children, who are not enrolled in the program must be supervised by a parent when in the Aquatic center or patio area. All persons entering the Aquatic Center are requested to refrain from smoking, eating or drinking, while in the building.
- Youth Aquatics participants and family members are not allowed use of any recreational or instructional equipment and are not allowed to enter any adjoining areas/buildings. Participants and family members should restrict their access to pool and/or patio area and adjoining restroom/dressing facilities only.
- Class procedures are as follows:
- Students may dress and shower in the dressing rooms before and after class participation.
- Students must bring their own towels.
- A bathing cap is recommended for students with long hair. If bathing cap is not used, hair must be pulled back away from face.
- Remove jewelry, hair pins,gum and any other articles detrimental to swimming, before entering the pool area.
- Students entering class will check in with the instructor and wait on pool deck until the instructor begins class practice. Do not enter water without instructor's permission.
- No glass containers (shampoo, etc) in the building.
- No rough play will be allowed during class time, anywhere on deck, or in the remainder of the building.
- No running, in the building.
- Please be prompt to class.
- Students must dry off, before leaving pool area.
- Students who are absent will not be allowed to makeup missed classes.
- Students enrolled in the Del Mar College Youth Aquatics Program do not have access to recreational facilities, other than designated class time.
- Parents and/or guardians must pick up children on time. Del Mar College is not responsible for children, after class has ended.
