The Computer Science (CIS) Department offers a variety of options
to meet the needs of today's information technology (IT) specialist.
The department provides quality workforce training and education
to meet the needs of local and national industries.
The curriculum in each specialization uses extensive "hands
on" experiences to support theory and problem solving. Course
work is extremely relevant to industry needs. Contemporary computer
workstations, adherence to current information technology processes,
use of industry standard programming languages, industry standard
operating systems, and software applications are employed. Students
will be introduced to a variety of computer information environments,
such as mainframe, mini-computer, personal computers, and client-server.

The Department of Computer Science offers a variety of options to
obtain specialized training to meet the needs of todays information
technology specialist. Starting annual salaries range from $28,000-
$40,000. Salaries can increase substantially with experience. The
lnformation Technology Association estimates there are more than
190,000 unfilled IT jobs nationwide and will increase 500% by 2004.
