Program Overview

Echocardiography is a diagnostic medical procedure that uses high frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images of the heart. Echocardiography is utilized for the detection and treatment of heart disease, heart attack and vascular disease that can lead to stroke. 

Curriculum

Deadline to apply is December 1 (each year). Students will receive written notification of acceptance to the program. Students must have completed a Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) certificate program or show proof of exemption.

Accreditation

The Echocardiography program at Del Mar College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

The Goals and Philosophy of the Echocardiography Program are in adherence with the Division, the College and the accreditation body. The goals reaffirm the program's commitment to meet the diverse needs of the students, the college and the community.
