Internships and Work Programs

Internships and Work Programs

Internships and work programs are not offered with the Surgical Technology program in a traditional way. During the Fall and Spring semesters students spend three days each week at hospital sites working with surgical crews as part of SRGT 1460 and SRGT 2460 classes. This work experience allows students to learn under direct supervision of working surgical technologists, nurses and surgeons to gain valuable skills necessary in the surgical field. These experiences also allow the student to demonstrate positive qualities to the surgical crews (hard work, a desire to learn, demonstration of understanding aseptic technique etc.) that will increase their chances of gaining employment at the conclusion of the program.
