Q: How can I get an appointment?
A: To make an appointment it is recommended to call
the clinic early in the semester.
Q: What is a qualifying appointment?
A: A qualifying appointment is a quick 30 minute
screening to see what type of cleaning you will need and to see if
you meet the educational and health requirements to qualify for treatment
in our clinic. (Note: This appointment is not the actual cleaning
appointment.) After you are qualified, a student hygienist may
be assigned to your case and will contact you to schedule an appointment.
Q: How long are the cleaning appointments?
A: All procedures performed by the students are under
the supervision of the instructors, and usually require more than
one visit to be completed. (Note: Appointments are set for 3hrs. 9am-12pm
or 1pm-4pm.)
Q: How much will it cost?
A: The services that the Del Mar College Dental Hygiene
Clinic provides are at no charge to the community.
Q: Does the clinic provide any other dental procedures?
A: The extent of the treatment that can be given
by the Dental Hygiene Clinic are that of preliminary oral examinations,
prophylaxis (cleaning), home care counseling, topical fluoride applications,
radiographs, sealants, amalgam polishing and consultation and referral
by a licensed dentist.
