Q. How do I register for online courses at Del Mar College?
A. Register just as you would for any other campus-based course. Go to the Admissions
section under Student Services.
Q. How much do online classes cost?
A. Online classes cost the same as campus-based class.
Q. Are the academic credits for online classes the same as on-campus courses?
A. Yes, you receive the same credit as for campus-based courses. Transcripts
do not indicate how the course was delivered.

Q. Does Del Mar College have computers that can be used for accessing Web-based
courses and materials?
A. Yes, Del Mar College has well over 2,000 computers available students housed
in computer labs located on the East and South campuses and a small computer
lab at the newly-opened South Annex. Computers are assigned on a first-come,

Q. Will I have problems with WebCT if I use AOL?
A. In the past, students using some versions of AOL have had problems accessing
required course materials. To verify your browser and settings use the WebCT
Check Browser function available at http://online.delmar.edu/ and then click Check Browser in the upper right corner of the page.
Q. My instructor says that I need a special "plug-in" for the
online course. What is a plug-in and how do I install it on my computer.
A. Plug-ins are special programs that allow your computer and browser to perform
special functions such as video and audio playback and animations. Plug-ins
are free and easily installed. To assist in the selection and installation of
plug-ins, visit the Check Browser site at http://online.delmar.edu/ and then click Check Browser in the upper right corner of the page.
Q. I am having trouble with my WebCT course. What do I do?
A. Contact the Del Mar College Helpdesk by calling 361-698-2330 or emailing helpdesk@delmar.edu. Helpdesk technicians
are highly skilled in the resolutions of a multitude of problems dealing with
the Web-based classroom.

Q. Is an orientation session required for telecourses?
A. Most instructors require an orientation session during the first week of
classes. Check the semester class schedule for the date and times, or contact
your instructor. Instructors use the orientation session to review course information
and provide other critical course information.
Q. Where do I view the telecourses?
A. Telecourse lessons are aired regularly on Time Warner and Grande channel
19. Some courses are also aired on the local PBS station KEDT, channel 16 (cable channel 9). Videos
may also be viewed in the Audio/Video center of the White Library-East Campus
and at the Learning Resource Center-West Campus. Videotapes and DVDs of lesson
materials are also available for rent for $15 from the Department of Distance
Learning, White Library-East Campus, 4th floor, room 411. Call the Department
