Required Computer Skills

Online courses aren't for everyone. You MUST have certain computer skills in order to succeed. You should not sign up for these courses unless you know how to:

• start up and shut down your computer. 
• open and close software programs installed on your computer's hard drive. 
• use your computer's operating system (either Windows 95/98 or Mac OS). 
• use the CD-ROM Drive. 
• install and uninstall software on your computer's hard drive. 
• use a word processor (type in text, save and retrieve files, print, copy, cut, paste, format). 
• connect to and use the Internet (find, visit and navigate web sites, use search engines). 
• send and receive e-mail. 
• use Netscape Communicator 4.0 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. (America Online users click here for important message. ) 
• download and install plug-ins and accessories on your browser. For Netscape 4.0 browsers click here to download plug-ins and accessories. 
• Check with your course instructor for any additional requirements for your specific course
