All full-time faculty automatically become members of the committees for the courses they teach. Responsibilities of each committee include:
- Administering course assessment measures
- Selecting textbooks
- Monitoring unit plans
- Reviewing and revising the general course syllabus
- Providing a forum for exchanging ideas on how to improve instruction
Student Requirements/Educational Objectives for English 1302, through the core curriculum component in composition, is to enable the student to communicate effectively in clear and correct prose in a style appropriate to the subject, occasion, and audience. By the end of the course, therefore, students should be able to:
- understand and demonstrate writing and speaking processes through in invention, organization, drafting, revision, editing, and presentation
- understand the importance of specifying audience and purpose and to select appropriate communication choices
- understand and appropriately apply modes of expression in written communication
- participate effectively in groups with emphasis on listening, critical and reflective thinking, and responding
- understand and apply basic principles of critical thinking, problem solving, and technical proficiency in the development of exposition and argument
- develop the ability to research and write a documented paper
