How
to Keep Your Webpage Up to Date:
You'll keep quite a bit of the work
that you do this semester on a webpage that you'll create
and link through WebCT. This isn't as
complicated as it sounds, and doing it will teach you a lot about organizing
text in our modern age. Typically your link from your name (under
"Homepages") in WebCT will take the user to a single, simple page on the
web that has links to the various documents that we're going to be writing
this semester. Here are some things to do to keep your page up to
date.
-
Make sure that you've got links to
all the pages that are currently assigned. Usually these will be
described as "Text 1: Title.......Text 2: Title......."and so on.
-
Arrange your links in the right order:
Text 2 is after Text 1, and so on.
-
Make sure there's only one
link to your page from WebCT. Any extra links that you might create
accidentally are easily erased.
-
Ordinarily each link will lead to a
page with several drafts, each of which will have a draft number and a
date: For example: "Draft 1: October 15, 2001."
-
Remove all superfluous material that
might have come with your template when you created your homepage.
If it's not a picture of YOUR house, don't keep it on the page.
-
Pay some attention to how readable
your text is. Is the font big enough? Is green text on a black
background easy to read? Does your text have paragraphs? (Usually,
single-space the text and add an extra line between paragraphs.)
Your page should be something like
this one.
