My Labs

Now that you're enrolled in a One-Hour Writing Lab and have met your lab instructor, you can access the web site used during your weekly scheduled lab. Click on the link below to take you to your lab.

Lab Mission

No matter what level of One-Hour Writing Lab you're taking, you'll use computers to improve your writing abilities. However, each level of lab has a different focus:

• English 305/306 Lab focuses on grammar supplemented with basic writing skills. You'll be introduced to word processing on a computer, including basic MLA formatting guidelines.
• English 307 Lab focuses on strengthening writing skills using a six-step writing process. You'll learn to use the Internet for research and develop word processing skills to include setting up a document in MLA format.
• English 1301 Lab focuses on web-related topics for using the web as an academic resource. You'll be introduced to documenting and formatting sources according to MLA standards.

Dual Credit English Lab

If you are enrolled in Dual Credit English 1301, you must also complete the One-Hour Writing Lab requirement. For more information about the Dual Credit English Lab, click on the link below.

Lab Makeup

It's very important that you attend your weekly One-Hour Writing Lab. You can make up a total of 3 missed labs, but no more. If you don't make up your missed lab, 5 points per absence will be deducted from your final English course average.

You'll need to go to the Stone Writing Center, Room 104, to get your makeup assignment and complete it in the SWC. All makeups are 50 minutes long. If you don't spend the entire 50 minutes on the makeup, your absence will not be removed. All makeups must be completed by an announced date each semester.

Lab Project

In addition to the work completed in lab, you must also complete a Lab Project outside of lab by the announced deadline. Unlike other lab assignments, the Lab Project can't be made up. To find out about your Lab Project, click on the links below.

Portfolio Pandemonium

An important part of your One-Hour Writing Lab is your Lab Portfolio. This portfolio, which showcases all your lab work, is worth one lab credit. If you need help assembling your required lab portfolio, you can attend "Portfolio Pandemonium," a one-stop, hands-on event, to help you get organized.
