DEL MAR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
Several scholarships are available to Del Mar academic, technical, and occupational students. Financial need is a consideration in awarding some of these scholarships. Recipients of the scholarships are selected by various committees (Faculty Scholarship Committee, Department Subcommittees, Former Students Scholarship Committee or the Del Mar College Foundation). Students submit a Scholarship Application along with a high school transcript and/or college transcript to the Financial Aid Office. Incoming freshman applicants also submit a letter of recommendation from their high school counselor and/or principal. The application deadlines are listed on the application form. By completing and submitting the enclosed application form, students will be considered for Del Mar College and Foundation scholarships. Applications may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office.
J. W. and Shirley Agee Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. J. W. Agee, a former professor of government at Del Mar College.
Athenian Club Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore who has demonstrated financial need. Selection is based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.
Rita Benson Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore student majoring in visual arts. This scholarship was established by the Art Association of Corpus Christi in honor of Rita Benson.
Conrad Blucher Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore majoring in engineering. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship honors the memory of the late Conrad Blucher.
Ruben Bonilla, Sr., Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a local sophomore. This scholarship honors the memory of the late Ruben Bonilla, Sr.,and is funded by his family. Selection is based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need.
China Carter Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a single head of household student who has achieved academically and has demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established by the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does - 46 in memory of China Carter.
Nina Cook Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore student majoring in elementary education. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established by Ann Spivey in memory of her mother, Nina Cook.
Corpus Christi Jaycees Golden Gloves Scholarships
Several scholarships are awarded to members of the Amateur Boxing Association. Selection is based on scholastic ability.
H. V. Cortez Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore student majoring in Chemistry. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was established by friends and employees of PPG in memory of the late H. V. Cortez.
James Cross Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore majoring in computer science. This scholarship honors the memory of James Cross,an alumnus of Del Mar College. Selection is based on academic achievement.
Davidson Family Charitable Foundation Scholarships
A number of scholarships are awarded to sophomores on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. These scholarships are funded by the Davidson Family Charitable Foundation of Midland.
Del Mar Board of Regents Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to freshmen and sophomores. Recipients must have graduated within the upper 10 percent of their high school classes. The scholarships are awarded to students whose legal residence is within the Del Mar College District.
Del Mar College Regents 'Merit Award Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to graduates of high schools from Nueces, Aransas, San Patricio, and Kleberg counties. Recipients must have good leadership qualities,rank in the upper 20 percent of their high school class,and be incoming freshmen for the award period.
Del Mar Education Association Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a returning student. Selection is based on academic achievement.
Del Mar Memorial Scholarships
Freshman and sophomore scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement. These scholarships are funded by contributions in memory of loved ones.
Del Mar Part-Time Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled at least half time. Selection is based on academic achievement.
Katherine Evans Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a freshman. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship fund was established in 1979 in memory of Katherine Evans, a former English professor at Del Mar.
Harry C. Fisher Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore active in student organizations. This scholarship fund was established in memory of Harry C. Fisher, a former director of Student Activities.
Doris Grace Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a freshman. Selection is based on scholastic ability. This scholarship fund was established in memory of Doris Grace, a longtime English professor at Del Mar.
Christine Green Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a freshman who has demonstrated scholastic achievement. This scholarship was established in memory of Christine Green, a former English professor at Del Mar.
Troy Halliburton Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore majoring in KHSR. This scholarship fund was established in 1987 in memory of Troy Halliburton, a former professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Health Studies and Recreation.
E. L. Harvin Memorial Scholarship
One scholarship is awarded to a freshman who has demonstrated academic achievement. This scholarship honors the memory of the first president of Del Mar College, the late E. L. Harvin
Jess Hopper Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore majoring in computer science. Selection criteria is based on scholastic ability. Recipient must have completed a minimum of 12 hours in computer science. This scholarship fund was established in memory of Jess Hopper, former director of Computing Services.
Dr. Patricia A. Schmitt Kinesiology, Health Studies,and Recreation Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore majoring in kinesiology. Recipient must be active in KHSR and/or intramural participation. Section is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was named in honor of Dr. Patricia A. Schmitt, former chairperson of the Department of Kinesiology, Health Studies, and Recreation.
Leo and Downtown Lions Club Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to sophomores. Selection criteria is based on scholastic achievement and demonstrated financial need.
Morris L. Lichtenstein, Sr., Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a freshman. Selection is based on scholastic ability. This scholarship was established in memory of Morris L. Lichtenstein, Sr., a former regent of Del Mar.
Edith H. Parker Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed two history courses and is enrolled in a third course. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship honors Edith H. Parker, a former chairperson of the Del Mar History Department.
Dr. Aaron Seamster Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore majoring in biology. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Aaron Seamster, a former vice- president of Del Mar College.
Virginia Baxter Smith Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a freshman. Selection is based on scholastic ability. This scholarship fund was established in memory of Virginia Baxter Smith.
Southside Rotary Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic achievement. This scholarship fund was established by the Southside Rotary Club of Corpus Christi.
Dr. Virginia Stone Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded annually to a sophomore. Selection is based on scholastic ability. This scholarship fund was established in 1987 in memory of Dr. Virginia Stone, a former dean of Del Mar College.
Tom Thorpe Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship fund was established in memory of Tom Thorpe.
Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education Scholarship
Several scholarships are awarded to sophomore students on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Students must be graduates of Roy Miller High School, Foy H. Moody High School or West Oso High School. These scholarships were established by the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education/Del Mar Chapter.
Larue White Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a freshman. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship fund was established by John White in memory of his wife, Larue White.
William Selby Williams Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a sophomore majoring in visual arts. This scholarship was established by the Art Association of Corpus Christi in memory of William Selby Williams, an alumnus of Del Mar College.
Sandra Callaway Woolsey Music Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to an outstanding music major. Selection is based upon musical performance, skills, and scholastic ability. This scholarship honors Sandra Callaway Woolsey.
Health Science Scholarships
Scholarships are also awarded to students in health science programs .Students must exhibit scholastic achievement. Financial need may be a consideration in awarding some of these scholarships. Recipients are selected by the Health Science Faculty Scholarship Subcommittee and/or the Del Mar College Foundation. The application deadline for the academic year is mid- September. Applications may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office.
Dorothy Hanna-Craig Scholarship Fund A number of scholarships are awarded to students majoring in nursing. Selection is based on scholastic ability. These scholarships honor the memory of Dorothy Hanna-Craig, a former Del Mar College student.
Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does- 46 Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to second- year students enrolled in a health science program. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit and demonstrated financial need.
Bill Blythe Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship is awarded to a second- year student enrolled in the Radiologic Technology program. Selection is based on scholastic ability. This scholarship fund was established by the South Texas Society of Radiologic Technologists in memory of Bill Blythe, a former employee of Radiology Associates.
City Council of Hospital Auxiliaries Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in registered nursing. Selection is based on scholastic ability.
Women 's Auxiliary to Nueces Valley District Dental Society Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene/ Dental Assisting programs. Selection criteria is based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Recipients are selected by the donor scholarship committee.
