Del Mar College Foundation Scholarships

The Del Mar College Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees whose mission is to support education at Del Mar College. The Foundation awards scholarships in the fall and spring semesters and the summer session.

This list includes some of the numerous scholarships available to Del Mar College students. Each student 's completed scholarship application will be compared to criteria from all scholarship categories to find the closest match for the student 's needs.

Scholarship funds are provided through the generosity of the Del Mar College Foundation members and other supporters, friends, faculty, staff, and former students of Del Mar College. These gifts are often made to the Del Mar College Foundation in honor of or memory of a revered individual. Each gift is reflective of the special interests of these donors. Scholarship applications are available in the Financial Aid Office.

Nell Tribble Bartlett Drama Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in drama. Selection is based on scholastic ability. This scholarship honors Nell Tribble Bartlett, a former drama professor at Del Mar College.

Margaret K. Bassetti/BPW Endowment
This scholarship is available to all majors and is based on financial need.

Behmann Brothers Foundation Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the occupational education/technical programs. Selection is based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need.

Celia Berwin Memorial Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1982 by the Celia Berwin Memorial Foundation of San Antonio.

Robert and Janis Birchall Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to Licensed Vocational Nursing students in the Bridge program working toward their Registered Nurse Education degree.

Zula Hill Blucher Endowment Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students pursuing music, engineering, and literary endeavors. This scholarship was established in 1986 in memory of Mrs. Zula Hill Blucher, a noted community leader.

Maria Ramirez Bonilla Endowed Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Bonilla.

Tessa Bonilla Memorial Music Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in music. Selection is based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established in 1996 in memory of Tessa Bonilla.

Leon Braskamp Memorial Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students in the Division of Arts & Sciences. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need. This scholarship was established in 1991 in memory of Leon Herbert Braskamp, who was very active in the Senior Citizens Education Program at Del Mar College.

H. J. Cantu Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to Mary Carroll High School graduates. This scholarship was established in 1993 in memory of Higinio J. Cantu, principal of Mary Carroll High School. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.

The Allan J. Cheatum Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to graduates of West Oso or Roy Miller High Schools who excel academically and major in banking, finance, business, or accounting. This scholarship was established in 1994 by the International Bank to honor Cheatum 's 44 years of community service.

Jonathan Thomas Michael Childers Memorial Fund Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in restaurant management. Selection is based on scholastic achievement. This scholarship honors the memory of Jonathan Thomas Michael Childers.

Coca-Cola Bottling Company
Scholarships are awarded to students regardless of major based on financial need.

Sam D. Collins Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to law enforcement majors based on scholastic achievement.

CC Estate Planning Council
This scholarship is open to business students in all business majors.

Corpus Christi Life Underwriters Association Endowed Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need.

Corpus Christi Surgical Society Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the Surgical Technology program. Selection is based on demonstrated financial need.

Don Emery Cox Engineering Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in engineering. This scholarship was established in memory of Don Emery Cox, a registered professional engineer.

"Sophie " Crone Dental Hygiene Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by friends, colleagues, and classmates in memory of Sophie Crone. Selection is based on academic performance and financial need.

Professor Edward W. Daner Scholarship
Professor Daner, a former community college professor, is dedicated to supporting students seeking higher education through the community college system. Professor Daner established the Professor Edward W. Daner Scholarship to support Del Mar College students enrolled in majors that are considered helping professions. Students having a major in a helping profession, a GPA of 2.5 or higher and exibit a financial need may apply.

Del Mar College Dental Hygiene Scholarship
Scholarship was established in 1995 by Gary N. Blum, DDS, MS, and is awarded to second-year dental hygiene students. Criteria include grades, performance in the dental hygiene program, and financial need.

Del Mar College Foundation Part- Time Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students in all majors enrolled in less than 12 semester hours.

Del Mar College Foundation General Scholarship
This scholarship is open to all majors.

G. B. and Estela Diaz Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students who excel academically. This scholarship was established to honor the memory of G. B. Diaz by his wife, Estela Cantu Diaz, and sons, Ralph and Ismael Diaz.

Gavin Downey Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students based on scholastic performance.

Frances Dushek Honor Academic Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to second semester students based on scholastic performance. Miss Dushek was a longtime professor at Del Mar College and was named a Piper Professor.

David Michael Ellis Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in English, art, drama, or music. This scholarship was established in memory of David Michael Ellis by his mother and family.

Katherine Evans Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to humanities and fine arts students. Selection is based on financial need and academic performance.

Sue Sellors Finley Endowed Drama Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students who excel academically and major in drama. This scholarship was established to honor the more than 18 years of drama instruction of Assistant Professor Finley.

Flour Bluff Independent School District Scholarship Program
Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Flour Bluff High School.

Lura Lee and George Raymond Freeman Nursing Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in Vocational Nurse Education. This scholarship was established in honor of Mr. and Mrs. George Freeman by their daughters. Mr. Freeman organized the Del Mar College Department of Vocational Nurse Education in 1949.

J. D. Fulton Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to English majors. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic performance. This scholarship was established by Joe Fulton in honor of his father J. D. Fulton.

Virginia Lee Garcia Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to sophomore students in the Dental Hygiene program. Selection is based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established in memory of Virginia Garcia, a graduate of the Dental Hygiene program.

Deon Haven Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to hospitality management students who have completed at least one semester. This scholarship was established in honor of Mr. Haven by friends, family and colleagues on his retirement from Del Mar College.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heldenfels, Jr. Engineering Technologies Endowment
This fund was established in 1985 by Mr. and Mrs. Heldenfels for students majoring in architectural and drafting technology, electronic and communication servicing, or engineering technology. Selection is also based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need.

Hillabee To Weogufkee Endowed Art Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in art. This scholarship was created in 1989 by Ronald D. Sullivan, professor of art, through his rare art publication on the Hanna Creek Indians of Oklahoma.

Hugo T. and Annie C. Isensee Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students based on financial need.

Mary Margaret Sinclair Irvin and Donna C. Sullivan R. N. Nursing Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students in the Registered Nursing program. Selection is based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need. Mrs. Irvin was cared for by nurse Sullivan. Mrs. Faye P. Sinclair Holmes created this memorial to her sister Ms. Sinclair and nurse Ms. Sullivan.

Wade Jones Chemical Engineering Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in science, mathematics, business, or engineering. This scholarship was established in memory of Wade L. Jones.

Marie Knipe Geology/Geography Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in geology or geography. Selection is based on academic achievement.

Gerald Koch/BPW Endowment
Scholarships are available to students in all majors and based on financial need.

Stephen Paul Kost Health Sciences Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in a health science program. Selection is based on scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established by the Kost family in memory of Stephen.

Victor Lara Communications Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in communications, radio, TV, magazine, or newspaper. Grades, performance and financial need are also considered.

Augustine "Gus" Leija Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to sophomore business majors. This scholarship honors the memory of the late Gus Leija, a prominent community leader and former Del Mar College student. Selection is based on scholastic achievement.

Leo Lunoff/Coastal Bend Society of Radiologic Technologists Endowment
The scholarships were established by the local chapter of the Coastal Bend Society of Radiologic Technologists and Leo Lunoff. Selection criteria includes academic achievement and financial need.

Carol Marie Steward Masters Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to business majors and selection is based on scholastic performance.

Jolee McKenzie Memorial Health Science Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to a health science major. Selection criteria is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was established in 1997 in memory of Jolee McKenzie.

Karen Moody Endowment Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students with special needs. Selection is based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.

Louise Millican Nursing Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to second-year students enrolled in the Registered Nursing program. Selection criteria is based on academic achievement and financial need. This scholarship was established in 1984 by Mrs. Loraine Millican in memory of her sister, Louise.

Jose A. Montoya Business Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in business (accounting, banking and finance, business administration, economics, and operations management). This scholarship honors the memory of the late Jose A. Montoya, a Corpus Christi businessman, and is funded by Nueces National Bank and its directors. Award is based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.

The Edna Ocker Piano Accompanist Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to outstanding piano accompanists. Selection is based upon musical performance skills and scholastic ability. This scholarship honors Mrs. Ocker whose leadership credits in music and cultural advancement of this community include continuous service and membership in the Thursday Music Club of 1937 and the Texas Federation of Music Clubs.

Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company Endowment
Established in 1986 by the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company, scholarships are awarded to students majoring in business, mathematics, engineering, and science.

David L. Perry Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students based on financial need and scholastic performance. This fund was established by the staff and attorneys of Perry & Haas Law Firm to honor Mr. Perry.

Clay Burton Peterson Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to San Patricio County students. Grades and performance are considered. This scholarship was established by Mrs. Lana Dillon, mother of Clay Peterson.

Elinor Hudson Richardson Memorial Nursing Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to second-year Registered Nurse Education majors who have achieved academically. This scholarship was established in 1994 in memory of Mrs. Elinor Richardson who was the wife of President Emeritus Dr. Jean Richardson.

Roper Family Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students in all majors based on scholastic performance. This fund was established through the generosity of "Deenie" Roper, professor at Del Mar College.

James M. Rowe Memorial Journalism Scholarship
Scholarship are awarded to journalism majors. This scholarship was established in 1990 to pay tribute to Mr. Rowe's vital role in journalistic activities for more than 30 years.

Dr. Grady St. Clair Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students who have achieved academically. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. St. Clair, a former president of Del Mar College who served the College for more than 28 years.

John William Sartain Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to Certified Corpus Christi Police Officers or their dependent children. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was established in memory of a former police officer, John Sartain.

Barbara and Harry Samuels Nursing Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to nursing majors on the basis of financial need.

Juliette Scott Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to registered nursing students, in memory of Mrs. Scott.

Mona Seale Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Mona Seale Estate. Scholarships are awarded based on performance and financial need.

Selena GED Endowment
This scholarship was established in memory of Selena, who earned her GED. Criteria include grades, performance.

Sembradores de Amistad of Corpus Christi
Scholarships are awarded to sophomore students in a degree or certificate program.

Harvey Smith Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to registered nurse students. Selection is based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established in 1994 in memory of Mr. Smith.

Lillian Ruth Smith Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students who excel academically. This scholarship was established in 1991 by her family. Mrs. Smith was a former student of Del Mar College.

Marion Erline Ridley Smith Art & Nursing Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in art,registered nursing,or vocational nursing. This scholarship was established in 1993 by her family. Selection criteria include scholastic achievement and demonstrated financial need.

Dr. P .E. Smith Chemistry Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in chemistry. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. P. E. Smith, a former professor and chairperson of the Chemistry Department at Del Mar College.

Chad Staberg Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students in the Dental Assisting program. Criteria is based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established in 1995 in memory of Chad Staberg.

Forrest Nelson Teichman Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to students in all majors and based on financial need. The fund was established by the family in memory of Mr. Teichman.

Bart Tullos Nursing Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to Registered Nurse Education students. Selection criteria is based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established in 1996 in honor of Bart Tullos.

Cynda and Buddy Venters Endowed Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated academic achievement.

Bill and LaVerne Volk Music Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to music students with a focus on stringed instruments. Selection criteria include scholastic achievement and demonstrated financial need.

West Oso Honors Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to West Oso High School graduates. Selection is based on academic achievement.

Dr. Ronald J. Williams Memorial Engineering Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in engineering. Selection criteria include academic achievement. This scholarship was established in memory of former professor at Del Mar College Dr. Ronald J. Williams.

C. Burdette Wolfe Orchestra Endowment
Scholarships are awarded to music majors. Selection is based on academic achievement. This scholarship was established in honor of Dr. C. Burdette Wolfe.

Colton Jeff Wright Memorial Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Banquete High School. Criteria include academic achievement and financial need.

George and Maurine C. Yantis English Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in English. This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Yantis, a former professor of English at Del Mar College, and his wife.

Instituto de Cultura Hispanica de Corpus Christi
Scholarships are awarded to students studying the Hispanic culture.
