Applying for a PLUS Loan Using TG Loans By Web

Del Mar College and TG (Texas Guaranteed) have teamed up to provide a Web-based application for Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). This online application – TG Loans by Web -- guides you through the process of obtaining a loan.

To apply for a PLUS Loan, your son or daughter must have applied for federal financial aid using the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). If a FAFSA has not been completed, your student may do so at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Here's what you can expect:
  • You will receive a loan only if you complete an application through TG Loans by Web. If you do not have access to a computer with an Internet connection, contact TG at 1-800-845-6267.
  • Be prepared to provide the name, address, and phone number of two references. You will also need to select a lender from the drop box at TG Loans by Web.
    Note:   The lenders listed on the drop box participate in a pre-credit approval process called PLUS Credit Connection (PCC) . PCC expedites the loan application process. If a lender not listed on the drop box is selected, the loan application process may be delayed several business days.
  • Be prepared to provide a valid e-mail address when prompted. This will help ensure the prompt notification of your loan award information.
  • You may have the option to electronically sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) with certain lenders. To do so, obtain a Department of Education personal identification number, or PIN, at www.pin.ed.gov.
  • DO NOT send signed MPNs to Del Mar College. The school will be notified of your loan electronically.
  • Should your student owe any money to Del Mar College, the PLUS Loan check will be mailed to you for your endorsement. You must return the check to Del Mar College for proper disbursement of funds. Any remaining funds owed to you will be mailed to you via a Del Mar College check.
How to apply:
  1. Go to TG Loans By Web at https://lbw.tgslc.org . Log in using your Social Security Number and date of birth. Select I am a Parent Borrower.
  2. Under Option 2, select Del Mar College from the drop-down list and click Create Loan Request. Follow the prompts on the screen, and then continue with the TG Loans by Web process.
  3. Enter you dependent's Social Security Number and Date of Birth.
  4. Type in your Personal Information. Click Next.
  5. Type in the contact information for two References. Click Next.
  6. Click Select Lender. Select a lender from the drop box at TG Loans by Web. Click Next.

  7. Review your Loan Award Information. Enter in your Requested Loan Amount, the Loan Period Begin and Loan Period End Date. This typically is the beginning and ending dates of the semester(s) you are attending. Enter your employer's information. Click Back to make corrections. Click Submit when you are done.
  8. Click the E-sign button to sign your MPN (Master Promissory Note).
  9. Click Close.

Attention:
Your school determines your eligibility and the amount of your loan regardless of the credit decision. Remember that obtaining a credit approval is NOT an immediate process—please have patience as this process takes place. You will be notified of the processing decision by mail or e-mail.
