Who Can Get Financial Aid?

  • A US citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
  • Male students, 18-26 years old, who are registered with Selective Service.
  • A student who is attending a school that takes part in one or more of the financial aid programs.
  • A student who is enrolled at least half-time, or in some cases even less.
  • A student who is working toward a degree, certificate, or a transferable program.
  • A student who is making satisfactory academic progress as defined by the Del Mar College Financial Aid Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
  • A student who does not owe a refund on any Title IV Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Grant, or Federal State Student Incentive Grant or any other Higher Education Grant program received at any institution previously attended.
  • A student who is not in default on any Title IV Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Stafford Student Loan, Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (FPLUS), Federal Supplemental Loan to Students (FSLS), Federal Direct Student Loan, or any other Higher Education Act Loan Program received at any institution previously attended.
  • Financial aid will be awarded only to students whose files are complete in both the Office of Admissions and Registrar and the Financial Aid Services.

Ability to Benefit
Financial aid applicants must have a high school diploma or must have successfully completed the General Educational Development (GED) Test to receive student financial aid.
Students who do not have a high school diploma or GED certificate may qualify for financial aid by achieving the following minimium scores on the COMPASS test offered at the testing center

COMPASS: Reading (62), Writing (32), and Math (25)

Students meeting this criterion must submit copies of their test scores and the Individual Approval form signed by the appropriate dean to the Financial Aid Services before financial aid can be considered.
