Existing FacilitiesContinued
The first building at the East Campus was constructed in 1941 and the most recent building, an 81,000 square foot general classroom building was occupied by the College in January 2000. The East Campus contains a total of 740,000 square feet; the West Campus has 208,000 square feet of permanent facilities and 13,500 square feet of portable buildings. There are a total of 2,755 and 835 parking spaces in the East and West Campuses respectively.
Although the buildings are well maintained, the age of the structures has resulted in the need to address substantial deferred maintenance projects in all but the newest structures. A complete building condition assessment was conducted as part of the master planning efforts. A summary of its findings is found in this report and the complete report is included in a separate volume. A roofing study was conducted of all of the College’s building, utilizing a computer based program - the Roofer EMS (Engineering Management System). This study will allow the College to schedule roof replacements for three to five buildings annually on a routine basis. Similarly, the building’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were also evaluated for their maintenance/replacement requirements.
