Existing FacilitiesContinued
The general architectural character has been maintained through the years primarily by using the same brick at each of the East and West Campuses. The single exception is the five-story William F. White Library, completed in 1975 clad in white, precast concrete panels. On the East Campus the brick is a light tan color while the brick used in the West Campus is medium, reddish-brown. Buildings built prior to 1988 were one or two levels. However, because of East Campus land limitations, the last two classroom buildings, Venters Business Building and the Coles Classroom Building, located next to the Heldenfels Administration, Garcia Health Sciences and White Library, were built three stories.
For the past few years, the limited financial resources of the College have been spent efficiently in constructing new buildings, upgrading utility infrastructure, and installing technology-related educational tools, such as computers and internet access. However, investments in the College have not been extended to such components as student, parking, landscaping, campus graphics, and other items that enhance quality of life for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Studies by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching have shown that one of the most significant factors for students selecting a school is the campus appearance.
