PlanningMethodology Continued
In defining future needs of Del Mar College, it is important to understand the College’s role in the community. Further, it is necessary that this plan reflect the vision and the goals of the Regents administration, faculty, and staff. Thus, the Design Team made the process all inclusive resulting in a plan that has wide support. However, fiscal and sequencing limitations will require that the implementation of the plan be scheduled over a period of years. This report will address the implementation of the plan into multiple stages. It is anticipated that the first phase should be completed within five years.
Although the net student enrollment has not increased significantly between 1990 and 2000, there has been a noticeable shift of students to certain programs - primarily health care, computer/technology, and hospitality management. Further, the investment by the College in technology, primarily computers, is causing the need for major upgrades in all facilities. Additional facilities will be needed where new and expanded programs cannot be accommodated in existing building .
