- ENTRY/ARRIVAL POINTS The West Campus presently has four points of entry - the Boaz Boulevard entrance from Airport Road which terminates at the Barth Learning Resources Center. A dual driveway entry creating a triangular shaped parcel that could be enhanced by a landscaped berm identifies the arrival from Old Brownsville Road. The new loop road proposed by the 1986 Plan starting at Santa Elena Street was recently completed by extending the other end to Old Brownsville Road. These two points of entry will have limited use until the campus has further development west of the road. Until such new construction occurs, the road will be used to service the campus and provide access to the truck driving track.
The entrance to a college campus, in addition to being its arrival point, represents a point of transition between the community and the campus. It serves as the symbolic gateway to a collegiate community. The entrance should tell the visitors that they are now in Del Mar College through appropriated graphics. The process of entering the College should also direct the visitors to their desired destination.
