Implementing the PlanYear 2005 Continued
- Hospitality Center – Del Mar is widely know for its training of hospitality industry professionals. This national reputation and the economy of the Coastal Bend which relies on tourism support the expansion of this programs. Phase One of this project includes a 15,000 square foot building with ultimate plans to enlarge the facilities to a 35,000 square foot complex. The program would accommodate restaurant management, motel-hotel staff training, travel agency training and other related professions.

- Refinery Pilot Plant - Cooperation with industry has resulted in offers to erect a Refinery Pilot Plant to be used by students in preparing themselves for skilled positions with the petroleum industry. The College would provide the slab foundation to support the piping, extend utilities and construct an instruments control room.

- Kinesiology/Health Studies/Recreation Facilities - Construction of a multi-purpose athletic field for softball, football, soccer with tocker rooms, restrooms and storage facilities.

- Upgrade/Renovation of Existing Buildings - Similar to the East Campus buildings, the West Campus facilities would be brought up to current standards and criteria.

- Site Improvements - The proposed new projects at the West Campus will provide an opportunity to put in place additional landscape, improved parking and a new graphics system to strengthen the pedestrian character of the Campus.

- Deferred Maintenance - Similar to the East Campus buildings, the West Campus structures require major repairs and renovations. The vocational shops, Flato Building, Administration Building, Restaurant Management Building have provided many years of service. They require extensive renovations to bring them up to current quality standards.

- Upgrading of Below-ground Infrastructure - The West Campus recently received a new central plant that provides chilled water to cool most of the buildings. Generally, most other underground utilities have been upgraded recently. New construction will require the extension of utilities to the new building sites and the expansion of the central plant.
