Implementing the PlanYear 2005East CampusUtilities
Required Central Plant Upgrades Prior to 2005
1. Install new three way valves in each building’s chilled water return pipe prior to connection to the utility distribution system, temperature sensor and FMS control points to ensure a minimum 12 degree F. rise in the campus chilled water distribution loop.
2. Install new cooling tower cell and support structure to replace existing cooling tower cell and connect to existing condenser water piping.
Required Central Plant Upgrades After 2005
1. Install new 1,000 ton centrifugal high efficiency chiller, new chilled water pump, new condenser water pump, and new cooling tower. Furnish minimum 20" diameter system for condenser water pumps such that any condenser water pump can utilize any chiller and any cooling tower cell. Extend existing 20" diameter chilled water header as required to connect to new chiller. Relocate existing chilled and condenser water pumps.
2. Install new thermal shockproof bent water-tube natural gas fired boilers, new hot water pumps including a dedicated hot water pump and a dedicated condenser water pump for the centrifugal chiller heat pump. Revised hot water header system as required to meet demand changes.
Chilled Water Supply and Return Underground Utility Distribution
1. Center for Early Learning: The existing 8" diameter north branch underground chilled water and supply piping leaving the central plant must be upgraded to a 10" diameter line. The future Center will require a new 6" diameter chilled water supply and return underground piping connection with isolation valves. Pipe shall be routed down south side of campus street, across Naples Street and connect to the new building.
2. Aquatic Center Addition: The future addition will require a new 4" diameter chilled water supply and return underground piping connection to the new 10" diameter north branch chilled water supply and return underground piping.
