DesignforChange
Preparing this report in electronic format makes it possible to modify its contents and to respond to changes in the College’s Academic/Instructional Master Plan or to incorporate technology advances on short notice. It will not be necessary for lengthy and expensive reprints of this report. A change or update can be made in hours and an updated Facilities Master Plan may be distributed electronically via the internet.
The College will be aided in managing its facilities by the availability of electronic base maps and drawings. This information will assist the Physical Facilities staff in managing the College’s physical assets more efficiently. This will require a commitment by Del Mar College to maintain and frequently update the records and information that this report generates.
Although future delivery methods of educational services are unknown, what is planned now should incorporate maximum flexibility to provide support for future ideas. Flexibility can add additional conduits for future communications cabling or locating future building sites that are not in conflict with existing or proposed underground utilities. The goal of this plan is to allow the College to grow over the 20-year planning period in response to increased student enrollment, program changes, technological advances, yet preserve and enhance the physical campus environment.
It is anticipated that beyond the initial phase of improvements planned for the first five year program, the following improvement projects would be considered:
- Music and Drama (East Campus)
- Natural Science (East Campus)
- Nueces County Outreach
- San Patricio County Outreach
- Additional Public Safety Facilities (West Campus)
- Kinesiology/Health Studies/Recreation (East Campus)
- Additional Hospitality Programs
- Existing Buildings-Upgrade/Renovations
- Site Improvements
- Upgrading of Below-ground Infrastructure
- Classroom Building (West Campus)
- Parking Structure (East Campus)
