INTERNET SPECIALIST – LEVEL I

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Bachelors degree and 1 year experience or an Associates degree and 2 years of experience. Required education must be in computer science, information technology, or other closely related major course of study. Required experience must demonstrate strong UNIX/Linux/Windows skills, HTML, and shell or perl scripting. PREFERRED ADDITIONAL JOB SKILLS: Experience with Sharepoint portal, .net, PHP/ASP, SQL, LDAP, SFTP/FTP, Solaris UNIX, CGI Programming/Scripting, and Dreamweaver. Knowledge of image properties and ability to manipulate image properties with Photoshop or Firefox. Knowledge of cross browser platform issues. Knowledge of Exchange Enterprise servers, Datatel WebAdvisor, and Blackboard course servers a plus. Note: Selectee at Level I may be noncompetitively advanced to Level II based solely upon the College’s need(s) and the availability of work at the higher level, and the level of performance of selectee.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience within the College group/salary structure, plus benefits.
CONTRACT STATUS: Full-time, with benefits.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Inter-campus travel, out-of-town meetings and workshops.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Create/design/develop standard web templates and web pages. Write front-end scripts for interactive web pages. Assist the Internet Team in the daily maintenance, support, development of the College’s academic and administrative internet servers/web-site, e-mail systems and portal. Assist faculty and staff with HTML and coding problems. Provide Internet assistance to faculty and staff with varying levels of technical expertise for a variety of Internet Services. Second level support for Internet clients (FTP, E-mail, Web Browsers, etc.) and assist with system administration for primary Internet servers (DNS, Web, E-mail, Blackboard, Portal, etc.) Set-up listservs for academic purposes. Perform account creation and assist Internet Service Group in the maintenance of the online course server. Performs other related duties as assigned.
