LIBRARY REFERENCE ASSISTANT

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in any academic area required. Minimum one year in a library reference department, as a teacher and/or lab assistant; or in a public service-related job required. Knowledge of or training in library research techniques, library print and electronic resources, library online catalogs; ability to use e-mail and the Internet; ability to use computer software, especially Microsoft Office package; and good interpersonal skills.  PREFERRED Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in English and/or Health Sciences is preferred.   Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities preferred.

SALARY: $33,002.00 annually, plus benefits.

 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, expiring term, Exempt.

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED:  Yes, between campuses; some training.

SPECIAL WORKING HOURS: Sundays 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday thru Thursday mornings, afternoons, and evenings as scheduled.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Works at White Library and/or Barth LRC reference desk, assisting students and other patrons with classroom assignments and reference questions using print and e-resources, the Internet, AV resources, and the online catalog.  Update legal publications, develop and check bibliographies, assist reference librarian as needed, keep current with changes in e-resources, create documents, spread sheets, etc. as needed.
