TENURE TRACK FACULTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR FALL SEMESTER 2008

Del Mar College is located near beautiful Corpus Christi Bay. The climate is tropical and the fall and winter periods are very temperate. Del Mar College is a multi-campus comprehensive community college serving more than 11,000 credit students each year. The College is recognized among the top 3% of community colleges in the nation graduating Hispanic students. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recently affirmed the strength of the College's instructional programs by identifying 30 degree plans as exemplary more than any other institution of comparable size. Del Mar College has more Piper Professors, recipients of the prestigious classroom teaching award, than any other community college in the state.

Due to impending retirements this spring, the College anticipates a need to recruit tenure track faculty for the Fall Semester of 2008 in various disciplines listed below. Interested applicants should apply to the College for consideration as stated below. Applicants will be further evaluate for possession of preferred knowledge, skill and ability factors identified by the College.

The base salary for disciplines requiring an Associate's or Bachelor's degree is $40,255 per nine months; The base salary for disciplines requiring a Master's degree is $42,409 per nine months. On a case-by-case basis, the College may grant salary increments to successful applicants whose education exceeds the minimum requirement. Depending on the needs of the College, there may be opportunities for Summer employment and additional compensation. In addition, employees have options for various retirement plans and insurance packages. Del Mar College offers nationally-accredited on-campus child care at competitive costs, and free tuition for employees.

Automotive Applied Technology Associate degree in Automotive Applied Technology, 3 years related automotive or teaching experience. ASE Master Technician.
Aviation Maintenance/Avionics Associate's degree in Airframe Maintenance and/or Power plant from an accredited institution. At least five years full time diverse aviation industry experience in aircraft maintenance. Minimum professional experience includes documented full time employment in a diverse aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, terminal or support setting. One year post-secondary teaching experience. A&P license. PREFERRED Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Inspection authorization Gas turbine, avionics, aircraft composites, and helicopter field experience. Bachelors degree in Aviation Sciences.

Biology Master's degree in field of Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in a related field. Qualified applicants with expertise in teaching human anatomy and physiology, non-science or biology majors are preferred.
Biotechnology Master's degree in molecular biology or Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in a related field and 3 years of documented biotechnology work experience is required. Qualified applicants with teaching experience in multimedia, computer based teaching, molecular biology and Ph.D. level preferred.
Building Maintenance Related Associate's in Applied Science Degree with certification in Building Maintenance; related Associate's in Applied Science Degree with certification in Air Conditioning; EPA or NATE certification; 3-5 years documented, related work experience. Credentialed and ability to teach all HART and MAIR courses in the Building Maintenance curriculum.
Business - Transfer

Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing or Master of Business Administration with 18 graduate hours. Preferred: Bachelors degree in Marketing. One year teaching business and marketing classes at the college level. Three years working experience in business and marketing related activities such as advertising, sales and market research. Ability to effectively communicate with adult learners, apply interactive learning strategies in the classroom and integrate computer technology into the course content, use PowerPoint, Word Processing and Internet applications.
Child Development/Early Childhood Specialist Master's degree in Early Childhood/Child Development or Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours of Child Development/Early Childhood required. 3 years experience in early childhood programs required.
Counseling and Advising Master's degree in counseling, LPC license, experience in counseling college students.
Dental Assisting Associate's degree in the field with 3 years documented related work experience, certified by the Dental Assisting National Board and registered through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
Dental Hygiene Associate's degree in the field with 3 years documented related work experience, and licensure by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography Associate's degree in the field with 3 years documented related work experience, certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Drama/Costume Designer Instructor

Masters of Arts degree in Theater or Master‘s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Theatre required. Two years college teaching and/or two years of professional production experience required. Proficiency in: costume design and construction, including costume shop supervision, stitching, patterning, and draping required. PREFERRED: Masters of Fine Arts degree in Theatre. Ability to teach costume practicum and Introduction to Costuming classes, designs; build costumes for 4-6 production season, maintain costume shop and equipment, maintain 600+ period-styled costume archive, supervise student assistants; assist with development of costume curriculum. teach lower division, general theatre courses (Make up, Acting, Introduction to Theatre, Theatre History, as applicable with experience); assist in the development of drama course curriculum and instructional materials. Possible opportunity to direct productions. Familiarity with computer design applications. Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.

Emergency Medical Services Required: Associate's degree in EMS with 3 years related EMS experience and TX Dept of State Health Services certification or licensure as an EMS-Paramedic and Texas Dept of State Health Services certification as an instructor. Preferred: Texas Department of State Health Services certification as a Course Coordinator. Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.

English for Speakers of other Languages Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to their teaching assignment and have either 30 semester credit hours in higher education or one academic year (2 semesters) in middle or high school teaching in a discipline related to their assignment or 6 graduate hours training in developmental education.
Government Minimum: Master's degree in Government or Political Science or a Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Government or Political Science. Preferred: Graduate Hours beyond Master's degree. Demonstrated college teaching. Familiar with contemporary instructional technology.
History (US & Western Civilization) Minimum: Master’s degree in History or Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in History. Preferred: Graduate Hours beyond Master’s degree. Demonstrated college teaching US, Western Civilization, Texas History. Familiar with contemporary instructional technology.
Industrial Machining Applied Technology Associate's degree in the field with 3 years documented related work experience.
Librarian Master's Library Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited graduate program.
Mathematics - College Level Master's degree in the field or Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in the subject matter.
Music Instructor (voice) Master's degree in the field or Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in the subject matter.
Music Instructor (piano) Master's degree in the field or Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in the subject matter.
Nurse Education Master's degree in the field or Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in the subject matter, and 3 years documented related work experience, licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
