ON-LINE ADJUNCT BIOLOGY INSTRUCTOR
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Master’s of Science degree in biology or closely-related life-science field required or Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in biology or equivalent from an accredited institution. College teaching experience in on-line biology courses required for employment. PREFERRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to teach lower-division non-majors’ biology courses on-line. Excellent communications skills. Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies including computers and Internet resources in instruction.
SALARY: $2,500.00 per three semester hour course; $3,000.00 per semester hour course for Doctorate.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Temporary At-Will Adjunct, Summer/Fall 2009 Only.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Valid driver’s license desired.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Yes, To and from Del Mar College.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach lower-division non-major’s on-line science courses, including associated laboratories and field experiences, if applicable. Maintain safe and secure laboratories. Plan and evaluate biology curriculum and effectiveness of biology instruction. Develop curriculum and learning activities. Work with students of varied multi-cultural backgrounds. Performs other related duties as assigned.
LOCATION: NATURAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT.
