FOOD PREPARER/LINE SERVER, FOOD LINE SERVER, and CASHIER
FOOD SERVICE UNIT

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: See below.

FOOD PREPARER/LINE SERVER - Required: Ability to read and learn recipes and to prepare/process simple foods and salads, and    simple cooking. Six (6) months of experience in simple cooking and food preparation, and food display and service. Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.  More than six months of experience in simple cooking and food preparation, and food display and service. FOOD LINE SERVER - Required: Ability to read and follow instructions. Six (6) months of experience as a food server/waiter in a food service or dining establishment. Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent. More than six months of experience as a food server/waiter in a food service or dining establishment including set ups and food service for catered events. CASHIERRequired: High school graduation or GED. Experience. Six (6) months of experience as a cashier in a medium to large-volume operation. Preferred: High school diploma or GED supplemented by courses in cashiering and/or bookkeeping. More than six months of  experience gained in a food service or dining establishment.

SALARY: Food Preparer/Line Server, $7.00 per hour. Food Line Server, 6.00 per hour. Cashier, $6.00 per hour. No benefits.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: PART-TIME, AT-WILL, 19 HOURS PER WEEK.  WORKING HOURS:  Shift work as scheduled by the Food Service Unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES: See below.

FOOD PREPARER/LINE SERVER - Prepare and assist in the preparation of food and/or routine cleaning and dishwashing or to provide service in a food service facility. Responsible for preparing foods and/or performing cleaning tasks in a kitchen or dining room and for      following directions concerning dining room duties. Duties include the following; other duties may be assigned: prepare and portion food items (e.g., desserts, salads, beverages); prepare simple food items and sandwiches; clean and pare vegetables and fruits; serve food at counter stations; prepare food trays; set up and maintain food items, condiments and utensils, glasses, napkins, etc. for cafeteria or snack bar; fills sugar bowls and salt and pepper shakers; set up buffet, serve drinks and clean up food service areas; inform supervisor of needed supplies; carries bulk food from storeroom or to serving line; cleans serving, cafeteria, snack bar areas and kitchen equipment; wash dishes, pots, pans and other cooking equipment.

FOOD LINE SERVER - Provide food and wait-staff service for special events in college dining and conference rooms. Duties include the following; other duties may be assigned: prepare food service areas; service dining and conference room facilities for events catered by the food service unit; assist with set up of tables and furniture in party configurations and preparation of dining tables by spreading tablecloths, preparing and setting silver services and napkins, glassware, and condiments; assist with simple food preparation as needed; collect food items from kitchen to match line service and event menu and transports to service/dining areas; ensure food is properly handled in accordance with sanitation standards, and maintained at correct temperatures; set up food buffet; wait, bus and food service areas; return unused foods and equipment to the food service unit; keep work area clean; inform supervisor of supply and equipment needs.

CASHIER - Operates a food service unit cashier station to receive food payments, disburse change, and service customers. Duties include the following; other duties may be assigned: prepares cashier station for opening by securing cash from supervisor; ensure the correctness of cash register charges and value of food items; receives cash and checks, and student meal tickets; closes cashier booth and accounts for and turns in all monies and tickets received during a shift; verifies cash on hand against cash register tape; performs related duties as required.

LOCATION: Food Service Unit, East or West Campus.
