    ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Arts degree in English or related field.  PREFERRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Teaching/tutoring experience desired.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Excellent grammar skills.  Knowledge of principles and rules of composition, rhetoric, and literary analysis.  Knowledge of personal computer and applications such as word processing and instructional software packages.

    SALARY:  $12.00 per hour.  No benefits.

    CONTRACT STATUS: Part-time, at-will; 19 hours per week.

    SPECIAL WORKING HOURS:  Some early morning, evening and/or weekend assignments possible.  Professional development and training meetings mandatory.

    TRAVEL REQUIRED:  No.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Del Mar College English Professional Tutor include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Conduct tutorials and research for the Center

    Attend mandatory professional development sessions

    Create instructional materials

    Supervise Student Assistants

    Exhibit professionalism when dealing with students and faculty

    Maintain careful records, logs, charts, and files

    Beyond these responsibilities, the Stone Writing Center Director or the Tutoring Program Coordinator may assign additional duties as needed.

    LOCATION:  The Stone Writing Center – East Campus.
