Human Services Program - Intergeneration / Addiction Option

Welcome!

We are pleased that you are interested in learning about the Human Service program options at Del Mar College.  The program offers two areas of concentration.  The first is the “Addiction Option”.  This course of study is designed for people interested in becoming Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors in the state of Texas.  A strength of this plan is that it meets the Texas Department of State Health Services requirement for licensure application for the individual completing this degree. The “Intergenerational Option” is designed with the generalist approach for people interested in working with all ages. We also offer a certificate for Long Term Care Nursing Home Administration.  Each of these program options takes great pride in helping to create a better quality of life for the community.

A unique aspect of the programs is the practicum and internship experience through community affiliations. Students have the opportunity to receive agency and clinical experience in the areas of substance abuse counseling, gerontology and intergenerational practices as well as mental health.

This site is designed to provide information about the degree and certificate programs offered by the Human Service Program in order that you may be well-prepared to succeed in your chosen field and find employment when you move into the workforce.
