DMC Users: Please ensure that your anti-virus software is up to date. If you do NOT have anti-virus software installed on your PC, please email PcRepair or call IT at Ext.1300 and request installation. (The DMC tag number and Building/Room number will be needed.)
If you currently have anti-virus software installed on your PC, please allow the automatic update feature for virus definitions to complete when running. Out-of-date virus definitions will put your PC at risk of virus infection and propagation.
Instructions to manually update Norton Anti-Virus virus definitions follow:
- Close all open applications
- Click on the "Start" button
- Select "Programs" (Please note your listing is NOT alphabetical)
- Select "Norton AntiVirus"
- Select "Live Update - Norton AntiVirus"
- Once the program launches, be sure to select "Internet" from the pull down listing in answer to the question "How do you want to connect to a LiveUpdate server?"
- Select "Next" and the live update will begin
- Select "Finish" when live update is complete and reboot your PC
- Now run Norton AntiVirus (By selecting "Start", "Programs", "Norton AntiVirus", "Norton AntiVirus")
Corporate Users:
Apply all server patches and application updates issued by the vender. Run an anti-virus software on all PCs and Servers and make sure it is updated with the latest virus definitions. Contact your IT Department with any questions or concerns.
Home Users:
Run an anti-virus software and make sure it is updated with the latest virus definitions. MS Windows users should visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and select "Product Updates" and download critical application updates and patches. Contact your internet provider if you receive a virus via email. Ask your provider about the Email virus and what steps are being taken to stop the spread at the server level.
