Orientation

There is no on-campus orientation for Dr. Kairies’ online courses. All orientation activities will be conducted online. Prior to the start of the semester, all students who have registered and paid for their course will receive a mailing from the Department of Distance Learning with their user ID, password, and instructions on how to log on to Web CT . Orientation instructions will be placed in your Web CT mailbox. Check your mail as soon as you log on. If you have not received your password and User ID by the first day of class, please send an e-mail message to Dr. Kairies or call the Student Help Desk at 698-2330, or e-mail the helpdesk.

All students in Dr. Kairies’ classes must complete a required skills and equipment test at the beginning of the semester.  The purpose of this test is to:

  • Make sure your browser is compatible with Web CT, the college’s course management software.
  • Make sure your QuickTime plug-in is up to date and properly installed.
  • Make sure you know how to use essential the features of Web CT for course assignments.
  • Provide up to date contact information to Dr. Kairies
  • Make sure you understand course policies, requirements and grading.
  • Make sure your equipment meets course requirements.

Students are required to complete the skills and equipment test as a condition of continuing in the course.  Those who don’t complete the test by the deadline may be dropped from the course. Students will not be able to begin course work until the test is completed. Any assignments missed due to an incomplete skills and equipment test will not be made up.
