The brass faculty at Del Mar College are Dr. Mary Thornton (trumpet), Mr. Karl Kemm (horn), and Mr. Darrell Brown (low brass). Brass students gain valuable experience by performing with the concert band, orchestra, jazz band, and various brass ensembles. In addition, experience in solo performance is gained through a workshop setting of brass labs and formal solo class recitals. Solo labs or solo class recitals are held every Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
 Each year, nationally recognized brass artists come to Del Mar College to perform and give clinics. Guest artists have included John Reimund, tuba; members of the River City Brass Band; the Meridian Arts Ensemble; the Boston Brass; the American Brass Quintet; Michael Sachs, trumpet; Wiff Rudd, trumpet; and Brian Bowman, euphonium.
