Dennis S. Richardson, Director Of Choral Activities

Dennis RichardsonDennis S. Richardson is the Director of Choral Activities at Del Mar College as well as the Artistic Director of the Del Mar Master Chorus. He has taught choral music in Texas for 30 years in a variety of settings ranging from rural to urban and elementary to university. Dennis has studied at West Texas State University, Southwest Texas State University and Texas Tech University. Professor Richardson has served on curriculum revision and textbook selection committees in Corpus Christi, Lubbock, Hays County and Sinton schools, as a music conductor for Silver-Burdett and Ginn textbook recordings and has provided concert reviews for the Corpus Christi Caller Times. He served as the Music Director for the outdoor musical drama Texas in Palo Duro Canyon.

Active in Texas Music Educator's Association (TMEA), Texas Choral Director's Association (TCDA) and American Choral Director's Association (ACDA), he has recently served as the Texas All State Choir Organizer, as the High School Honor Choir Coordinator for divisional and national conventions, and as the Southwestern ACDA Repertoire and Standards Chairman for Multi-Cultural and Ethnic Perspectives. Choirs under his direction have performed by invitation for TMEA and ACDA conferences, and he is active as an adjudicator, clinician and consultant throughout the state. Recently, Professor Richardson has worked as the clinician for the TMEA All Region Choir in Bay City, San Antonio and McAllen and served as the clinician and director for the annual Youth Choir Rally for the Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Mr. Richardson served as the associate director for the Lubbock Civic Chorale where he assisted in the preparation for the chorus for the regular concert series as well as their performances with the Lubbock and Santa Fe Symphony Orchestras. He has also coached in the preparation of choruses for the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of Victoria, Texas. Additionally, he has managed choir tours and conducted in such places as Dallas; San Antonio; Galveston; Washington D.C.; Philadelphia; Wichita, Kansas; Monterey, Mexico; New Orleans; Breckenridge, Colorado; and New York City.
