Dr. Tammie Burger
Department Chair
Dr. Burger holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of
North Texas and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from
Texas Christian University, where she studied with Tamas Ungar and
Caio Pagano. She also has a PhD from the University of North Texas
in Music Education.
Dr. Burger's musical background has been eclectic. As well as
performing classical music, she also has extensive experience with
jazz and musical theater. She has worked as an accompanist for the
Ft. Worth Ballet and the Ft. Worth Opera, and has done recording
studio work in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. She has taught early
childhood music, elementary school general music, and secondary
choir. Her teaching experience in higher education includes Redlands
University in California, Arkansas State University-Beebe, and she
currently is the chair of the Music Department at Del Mar.
